What is a Parish Council?
Parish Councils are the first tier of local government and are statutory bodies. At Baslow & Bubnell Parish Council our councillors serve the residents of Baslow and Bubnell.
The councillors are independently elected and they are required by law to agree a budget before they can set the precept, which is the difference between the Parish Council’s estimated income and our anticipated spending requirements for the financial year.
We are one of around 10,000 parish and town councils in England and 100,000 councillors serving in these councils; over £2 billion is invested into these communities every year.
